Monetra® Receives Third PABP Security Validation
Gainesville, FL, November 9, 2007 - Main Street Softworks, Inc., a leading developer of integrated payment processing software for retail point of sale, e-commerce systems and embedded applications, today announced the completion of its third successful Visa USA Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) security audit for the Monetra® payment processing server software.
“As the only software vendor to have successfully completed the strenuous PABP validation three years in a row, it is clear that Main Street sets the standard for security within modern payment applications.” said Brad House, Main Street's senior developer for the Monetra products. “The payment processing industry has one of the most rapid upgrade and enhancement cycles around—changes are announced at least twice a year from the card associations and even more for some processors. Products that do not keep pace with industry-mandated changes rapidly become obsolete and can cost users millions of dollars in transaction downgrade penalty fees. Main Street will continue to evolve and innovate our product line while raising the bar for the competition.”
As in the past, the Monetra product was found to meet or exceed all of the PABP security criteria without requiring any additional, external support such as operation within secure network environment (as many other systems require). “Remaining true to our proactive approach to security, Monetra® has since its inception provided built-in, 'out-of-the-box' security features including full-strength cryptography for sensitive data encryption, secure communications, and internal IP filtering/firewall,” Brad House explained.
A key component of the PCI-DSS security standards (formerly CISP), the PABP validation audit mandates a stringent third-party assessment addressing the design, implementation, and documentation of payment application security. Main Street's PABP validation was administered by Security Metrics, Inc., a Visa-approved security assessor, and accepted by Visa USA November 09, 2007.
“Begining in January 2008, Visa will be implimenting a new series of mandates, including the removal of vulnerable payment applications and the requirement for newly boarded Level 3 and 4 merchants to use PABP compliant applications if not PCI DSS complaint.” explained Brad House.
“Our software products provide all of the security features required to comply with these upcoming mandates. In fact, over the past twelve months our software has helped tens of thousands of merchants fully comply with PCI-DSS” he added.
